Position Overview

Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China), part of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), is seeking scholars for the position of Professor in Marketing and Information Systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to research and teaching in Marketing, Information Systems, or an emerging or interdisciplinary field relevant to these areas. The role includes leading research projects, delivering and developing academic programmes, and supervising undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students.

About NUBS China

Nottingham University Business School China delivers business programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, postdoctoral, and executive levels.

The Business School holds Triple Crown accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA, a distinction held by fewer than 1% of business schools worldwide.

NUBS China has more than 3,621 Chinese and international students, including around 894 students enrolled in postgraduate programmes, including the PhD programme. Its international faculty includes 120 academics from 18 countries and regions. English is the medium of instruction across all programmes.

The Business School focuses on high-impact research, customised executive education, and high-quality teaching. It serves as an international academic gateway for research on business, finance, and economics in China and as a centre of expertise on Chinese firms going global.

Responsibilities

The Professor in Marketing and Information Systems will be expected to:

  • Lead, plan, develop, and conduct individual and/or collaborative research objectives, projects, and proposals.
  • Serve as principal investigator on major research projects within the relevant field.
  • Develop new research methods and approaches and contribute to the development of thought and practice in the relevant field.
  • Establish a national reputation and regularly disseminate research findings through leading peer-reviewed national publications, conferences, and other appropriate media.
  • Actively pursue recognition through appropriate national and international talent schemes and programmes to strengthen personal and institutional academic standing.
  • Deliver teaching across a range of modules or within a subject area and provide curriculum leadership within their area of expertise.
  • Design course modules and/or programmes of study within their specialist area and take responsibility for their quality.
  • Identify opportunities to develop the content or structure of existing modules and propose appropriate changes.
  • Supervise and examine undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students.

Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • A PhD in:
    • Marketing;
    • Information Systems; or
    • Another emerging or interdisciplinary field relevant to Marketing and Information Systems.
  • Proven ability to plan and lead the delivery of research and teaching programmes.
  • A track record of publishing in top-tier international journals appropriate to the level of appointment.
  • The ability and enthusiasm to work within UNNC's multicultural environment and explore research opportunities in China.
  • Internationally recognised intellectual contributions in the relevant subject area.

NUBS China seeks proactive, mature academics who are self-driven, results-oriented, resilient, and creative.

Preferred Qualifications

The Business School also seeks academic leaders with:

  • Strong evidence of attracting research funding and/or leading research projects.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior researchers.
  • Strong research networks that can help attract researchers and research funding.
  • Editorial experience at leading international journals, which is considered advantageous.

Salary, Benefits and Support

The successful candidate will receive a five-year contract, which may be extended by mutual agreement.

Salary is RMB 788,429 to RMB 1,035,700 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Salary progression beyond this range is subject to performance.
