Open Rank Faculty Position in AI & Data Science

Position Overview
The American University in Cairo (AUC) is seeking an accomplished scholar for the Onsi Sawiris Endowed Professorship in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the Onsi Sawiris School of Business. This full-time, open-rank faculty position—beginning Fall 2026—invites exceptional academics or industry leaders to advance AI and data science education and research across business disciplines. The role supports teaching, research, and leadership that foster innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and positive societal impact.

Responsibilities
Research & Scholarship
Lead world-class research in AI, machine learning, and data science. Publish in top-tier journals, present at leading global conferences, and secure external research funding. Drive responsible and ethical AI innovation that promotes inclusivity and sustainability.

Teaching & Mentorship
Design and teach courses in AI, data science, and business applications at undergraduate and graduate levels. Develop new curricula that meet industry needs and integrate emerging technologies. Mentor students and faculty to strengthen the academic community.

Institutional Leadership
Shape AUC’s AI and data-driven strategy by encouraging cross-departmental collaboration. Represent the university in national and international forums to expand partnerships and raise its global reputation.

Community & Industry Engagement
Build strong partnerships with business, government, and civic organizations. Translate research into real-world applications, contribute to public dialogue on AI ethics, and support outreach programs that make AI education more accessible.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or a business-related field (such as Information Systems) from a recognized institution, ideally accredited by AACSB or EQUIS. Candidates should show a strong international record of research excellence with publications in A*/A or Q1/Q2 journals over the past five years.

For the Professor of Practice category, applicants with extensive business or industry experience are welcome. They must demonstrate leadership and practical achievements in AI and data science that can enrich teaching and applied research.
