Position Overview
Otago Business School at the University of Otago is hiring a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship. This is a permanent, full-time faculty role starting in 2026. The position combines research, teaching, and service within one of Australasia’s leading AACSB- and EQUIS-accredited business schools. This role offers an opportunity to grow an academic career while shaping the future of entrepreneurship education.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate entrepreneurship courses.
  • Contribute to curriculum design, including the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (BEntr) program.
  • Supervise master’s, PhD, and DBA students.
  • Develop and pursue a strong research agenda with publications in top journals.
  • Engage with industry and start-up communities to enhance student learning.
  • Contribute to academic service (40% teaching, 40% research, 20% service).

Qualifications
Applicants should have:

  • A PhD in entrepreneurship, innovation, or a related field.
  • A proven or promising record of publishing in high-quality journals.
  • Evidence of effective teaching in entrepreneurship or innovation.
  • A strong commitment to securing external research funding.
  • Experience working with or mentoring start-ups and entrepreneurs.
  • Commitment to engaging with Māori knowledge, values, and traditions, with a strong relationship to Ngāi Tahu as mana whenua.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Lecturer: NZD $97,377 – $114,943
  • Senior Lecturer: NZD $120,494 – $137,444
  • Full-time, permanent appointment based in Dunedin, New Zealand.
