Marist University invites applications for a full-time Finance Lecturer with a focus on investments and financial literacy. This is a teaching-centered, 9-month term faculty position based at our main campus in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Position Overview

The Finance Lecturer will teach a 4–4 course load (four courses per semester), totaling 24 credits per year.

Courses may include:

  • Introduction to Finance
  • Investments
  • Financial Markets
  • Personal Finance
  • Other finance-related subjects

Class sizes are small—typically fewer than 25 students. This allows for discussion, mentoring, and hands-on learning.

This is not a remote position.


Key Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in finance
  • Create engaging lectures and practical assignments
  • Use real-world examples from investments and markets
  • Support student success inside and outside the classroom

Program Leadership

  • Oversee the university’s financial literacy program
  • Promote strong money management skills across campus

Professional Engagement

  • Maintain active professional involvement in finance
  • Engage in scholarship or applied industry activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or a related field
  • Graduate study or professional experience in finance
  • 3–5 years of work experience outside academia

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (or progress toward one)
  • Degree from an AACSB-accredited institution
