Position Summary

The University seeks an outstanding academic to contribute to:

  • Teaching cybersecurity and related subjects

Teaching responsibilities will focus primarily on postgraduate education.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate courses
  • Develop innovative cybersecurity curriculum

Research

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A completed PhD in:
    • Cybersecurity
    • Information Systems
    • Computer Science
    • Law
    • Public Policy
    • Or a closely related discipline
  • Research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Cybersecurity governance
    • Information security management
    • Cyber policy
    • Digital risk management
    • Cyber leadership
  • Demonstrated teaching ability or strong potential for effective teaching
  • A commitment to ethical research and teaching practices
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the University's Māori and Pacific strategic priorities

Additional Requirements for Senior Appointments

Candidates seeking appointment as Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor should demonstrate:

  • A strong publication record
  • Successful postgraduate supervision experience
  • Evidence of research leadership
  • Success in securing competitive research funding
  • Academic achievements appropriate to the rank sought

Salary and Appointment Level

Lecturer

  • NZD $97,377 – $114,943

Senior Lecturer

  • NZD $120,494 – $137,444

Final appointment level will reflect the successful candidate’s qualifications, academic achievements, and experience.

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), permanent academic position based at the University of Otago’s Queenstown campus.
