Position Overview

The Stern School of Business at NYU Abu Dhabi (Stern at NYUAD) invites applications for a full-time Associate Professor of Finance position, available as a tenured or tenure-track appointment.

Offered through a partnership between New York University Abu Dhabi and NYU Stern, this position is intended for established finance scholars at or near the tenure decision stage of their careers.

The successful candidate will contribute to high-level finance research, teach and develop graduate-level finance courses, and mentor junior faculty within a growing academic department.

About the Role

Stern at NYUAD seeks candidates with a strong publication record in leading finance and economics journals and the ability to contribute to the department's research development.

The search focuses on scholars who have recently received tenure, are currently undergoing tenure review, or have an equivalent publication record several years after completing their PhD.

Candidates should be prepared to take an active role in research mentorship while contributing to the school's teaching and academic mission.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Professor of Finance will be expected to:

  • Conduct research at the highest academic level in finance or related fields.
  • Teach core and elective courses in Finance and related disciplines.
  • Develop finance courses that support the school's academic programs.
  • Mentor junior faculty and support their research development.
  • Contribute to departmental research leadership and the development of a strong research environment.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Doctoral Degree: A PhD in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Research Publications: A demonstrated publication record in top-tier finance journals, such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, or equivalent field-leading outlets.
  • Research Standing: A publication record consistent with a strong tenure case at a research-intensive institution.
  • Teaching Excellence: Demonstrated excellence in graduate-level or MBA teaching.
  • Academic Mentorship: Evidence of experience, or clear potential, in mentoring junior faculty and contributing to departmental research leadership.
