Position Overview
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Finance and Computer Science. This full-time faculty role bridges the MIT Sloan School of Management and the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing. The start date is July 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Responsibilities
Faculty in this joint appointment will:

  • Conduct impactful research that advances knowledge in finance, computing, or both.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in finance and computing (two courses per year).
  • Advise students and contribute to curriculum development across Sloan and the College of Computing.
  • Provide service to MIT and the broader academic community.

The successful candidate will hold a shared appointment between Sloan’s Finance Group and either the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) or the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS), depending on research alignment.

Qualifications
Applicants must have:

  • A PhD in Finance, Computer Science, Economics, Accounting, Operations Research, Information Systems, or a closely related field by the start of employment.
  • A research focus that integrates computational or AI methodologies with finance and economics, or that explores computing challenges inspired by financial systems.
  • A strong record (or potential) of scholarly excellence and teaching ability.

Compensation & Benefits
The annual 9-month salary range is $225,000–$254,000, excluding potential summer salary. Final compensation depends on experience, education, internal equity, and legal considerations. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check, including verification of prior professional conduct.
