Position Overview
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is hiring tenure-track faculty in finance at the Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor levels. Several positions are open in the Faculty of Business and Economics, with appointments starting July 1, 2026, or soon after. Contracts are offered on a three-year basis, renewable, with tenure considered before the end of a second contract. Exceptionally qualified senior candidates may be offered direct tenure-track appointments.

Responsibilities
Selected candidates will join a top-ranked finance faculty in Asia. Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate finance courses.
  • Conducting high-quality scholarly research in any field of finance.
  • Publishing in leading finance journals.
  • Engaging in faculty service and university-wide activities.
  • Providing mentorship to students and contributing to academic program development.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Finance or related field.
  • Strong research potential and a commitment to publishing in leading journals.
  • Ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Senior candidates must show a proven track record of impactful research and teaching.
  • Leadership experience in academic service is a plus for Associate and Full Professor ranks.

The Faculty of Business and Economics at HKU has 27 research-track finance faculty members and is recognized globally.
