Position Overview
Coppin State University’s College of Business is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Decision Sciences. This business school faculty job starts in Spring 2025 and offers a salary of $90,000 per year. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate business administration faculty courses in quantitative fields, including production and operations management and business statistics, and will also support curriculum development, research, and student mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credit hours of undergraduate courses in Decision Sciences, such as production and operations management, business statistics, and data science, across day, evening, and online formats
  • Advise students, support student organizations, and provide ongoing mentorship
  • Develop and assess curriculum to align with employment standards and industry trends
  • Conduct research in decision sciences, publish findings, and present at academic conferences and workshops
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees to support collaborative academic environments
  • Write and support proposals for internal and external funding

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Operations Research, Statistics, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field is required
  • Preferred: Academic experience or at least three years of relevant industry experience, plus research experience in operations research
  • New doctoral graduates are encouraged to apply

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Familiarity with quantitative analysis and research methodologies
  • Proficiency with statistical software such as R, SAS, SPSS, or Python
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment
  • Commitment to working with diverse student populations and providing mentorship beyond standard advising
