Position Overview
Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business invites applications for tenure line faculty positions in accounting beginning September 1, 2026. We welcome candidates at all levels who are interested in financial accounting, managerial accounting, tax, and related areas. Applicants must hold, or be on track to complete, a PhD by the start date. We seek individuals with a strong and active research record who can contribute to academic careers in business through impactful scholarship and teaching.

Responsibilities
Faculty will be expected to conduct independent, high-quality research and publish in leading journals. Teaching responsibilities include both MBA and PhD courses in accounting. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to engage and inspire students while contributing to the intellectual life of the business school community.

  • PhD in Accounting (completed or expected by September 1, 2026)
  • Evidence of strong research productivity and potential
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching MBA and PhD students
  • Interest in contributing to the broader business faculty community

Compensation & Benefits
Stanford provides competitive salaries for business school jobs, with pay determined by experience and qualifications. The expected base salary ranges are:

  • Assistant Professor: $275,000 – $290,000
  • Associate Professor: $295,000 – $325,000
  • Full Professor: $390,000 – $460,000

Compensation is aligned with internal equity, external benchmarks, and available budget.
