Position Overview
The Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley is establishing a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in Business and Public Policy as lecturers when openings arise.
The applicant pool will remain active for one year. Candidates will be considered as teaching needs arise. Inclusion in the pool does not guarantee that a position is currently available or that an appointment will be made.
Initial appointments are for one semester to one year, and positions may range up to 33% time.
About the Role
Lecturers appointed through this pool will teach courses in Business and Public Policy at the Haas School of Business.
In addition to their teaching responsibilities, lecturers are expected to:
- Hold office hours
- Assign grades
- Prepare course materials

UC lecturers are academic appointees represented by the University Council – American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT). This position is represented by the bargaining unit.
Required Qualifications
At the time of application, candidates must have:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree
By the start date, candidates must have:
- A minimum of four years of professional practice in a field relevant to the course being taught
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred by the start date:
- Professional experience in the Operations and Information Technology Management field at a business, government, or not-for-profit organization
- Higher education teaching experience and/or an advanced degree
Work Authorization
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Unless stated otherwise unambiguously in the position description, the position does not include sponsorship of a new consular H-1B visa petition that would require payment of the $100,000 supplemental fee.
Salary and Appointment
The UC academic salary scales establish the minimum pay at appointment. The current full-time salary range for this position is $73,817–$207,711.
Positions may range up to 33% time, and initial appointments are for one semester to one year.
