Position Overview
Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, remote Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (open rank) in Financial Planning within the Personal Finance Program in the School of Financial Planning. This is a non-tenure track, 9-month academic appointment with optional summer teaching opportunities. The anticipated start date is August 18, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in personal finance or related areas (remote delivery).
  • Support curriculum development aligned with current industry certifications and student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain active engagement with students and support inclusive learning.
  • Assist in administrative tasks as needed in the program.
  • Participate in service and outreach aligned with Texas Tech’s strategic goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in personal finance or a closely related discipline (e.g., family and consumer sciences, financial planning, family resource management).
  • AFC (Accredited Financial Counselor) certification, or willingness to obtain it within 12 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in online teaching, supported by teaching evaluations.
  • Proven experience supporting or serving diverse undergraduate student populations through teaching or outreach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and contributing to curriculum development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for student engagement, collaboration, and academic leadership.
  • Membership in professional financial planning or personal finance organizations.
  • Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP) designation.
