Teach Business Finance in the UAE

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is hiring a Business Finance Faculty member to teach and support students in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

You will:

• Teach finance and other assigned business courses
• Follow approved course outlines and learning outcomes
• Use practical teaching methods with real-world examples
• Create an engaging, student-centered classroom
• Support students who are learning in English as a second language
• Use educational technology to improve learning
• Hold regular office hours for student support

Student Assessment

Your responsibilities include:

• Prepare and grade assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams
• Provide regular feedback to students
• Monitor student progress
• Support students who may be at academic risk
• Update grades on time
• Contribute to assessment development and question banks

Student Advising

You will:

• Serve as a student advisor
• Guide students through academic challenges
• Mentor students during internships and work placements
• Recommend support plans for students who need additional help

Research

Faculty members are expected to:

• Conduct applied research related to business and finance
• Support the UAE's national innovation priorities
• Present research at conferences
• Mentor student research projects

Curriculum Development

You will help improve academic quality by:

• Reviewing and updating courses
• Developing learning materials
• Supporting accreditation requirements
• Preparing electronic course assessment reports
• Participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives

Service and Leadership

You may also:

• Serve on academic committees
• Support student clubs and activities
• Participate in campus and community events
• Assist with faculty initiatives and organizational projects
• Mentor colleagues when appropriate

Teaching Workload

This is a full-time position.

Faculty members generally:

• Work 36.5 hours per week
• Work Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday assignments
• Teach approximately 15 credit hours during both the Fall and Spring semesters

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have one of the following:

• Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related business discipline (preferred)
• Master's degree plus a relevant professional certification and at least five years of teaching and industry experience
• In exceptional cases, a Bachelor's degree with extensive industry experience and relevant professional certification may be considered

Preferred Experience

Strong candidates will have:

• At least 3 years of teaching experience in finance or a related field
• Industry experience in finance or business
• Experience developing university curriculum
• Knowledge of accreditation standards
• Experience using educational technology in higher education
• Strong communication and student mentoring skills
