Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Opening in Institutional Theory – UBC Okanagan

Position Overview
The Faculty of Management at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Okanagan Campus, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Institutional Theory, with a preferred secondary focus on Strategic Management. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2026, or a mutually agreed date. This role is ideal for candidates seeking business school faculty jobs in a dynamic, research-intensive environment. Budgetary approval is pending.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • PhD specialization in institutional theory or equivalent field;
  • Demonstrated research expertise in institutional theory and strategic management;
  • At least one publication in a Financial Times Top 50 (FT50) journal;
  • Proven excellence in teaching strategic management and human resources at the undergraduate and/or graduate level;
  • Evidence of potential to establish a successful, externally funded research program;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Commitment to undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral education;
  • Ability to contribute positively to internal and external service and collaborative academic initiatives.

Responsibilities
Duties include:

  • Maintaining an active research agenda with high-impact scholarly contributions;
  • Teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • Supervising PhD students in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies program;
  • Contributing to administrative and service roles within the Faculty.

  2. Curriculum vitae;
  3. Research statement;
  4. Two research papers or a dissertation proposal;
  5. Statement on teaching philosophy and mentoring approach, including teaching evaluations;
  6. One-page statement on contributions to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and ability to support diverse student populations;
  7. Contact information for three referees (letters to be submitted separately by the referees).
