About the Department
The Department of Accounting consists of six full-time faculty members and offers:
- Undergraduate Accounting major
- Master of Professional Accountancy
- In-person, hybrid, online, and distance education courses
Faculty teach on the quarter system, typically two courses per quarter (six courses annually).

Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses
- Teach in multiple delivery formats, including:
- In-person
- Hybrid
- Online
- Distance education
- Maintain an active research program
- Publish in nationally recognized peer-reviewed journals
- Participate in curriculum development
- Advise and mentor students
- Contribute through university and professional service
- Support CWU's mission of student success, access, and opportunity
Candidates with expertise in auditing or taxation are especially encouraged to apply, although applicants from all accounting specialties will be considered.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Ph.D. in Accounting or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited business school
- ABD candidates nearing completion are also encouraged to apply.
- Teaching experience in multiple instructional formats
- Evidence of scholarly productivity or strong potential to publish in nationally recognized peer-reviewed journals
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- CPA, CMA, or another professional accounting certification
- Experience developing or updating accounting curriculum
- Interest in experiential learning
- Experience building partnerships with employers and industry
- Commitment to helping students secure internships and career opportunities throughout Washington State
- A research agenda that supports CWU's vision of access, opportunity, and academic excellence

Salary and Benefits
Annual Salary
-
$140,000–$150,000 for a full-time nine-month appointment
