Faculty Opening in Hospitality & Real Estate – Kogod School of Business

Position Summary
The Department of Management at the Kogod School of Business invites applications for a full-time, open-rank term faculty position in Hospitality and Real Estate Management, beginning August 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the leading business schools in the country by shaping a new program at the intersection of hospitality, real estate, and business administration.

Teaching and Program Responsibilities
The selected candidate will lead the design and delivery of a new Hospitality and Real Estate Management program within the Business and Entertainment major. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (six per year) in hospitality operations, hotel development, real estate, and related business disciplines
  • Developing new courses in areas such as sustainable tourism, ESG investment, and digital innovation in hospitality
  • Supporting curriculum development, student advising, and internships
  • Building relationships with industry stakeholders for career placement and experiential learning

Qualifications
We seek applicants with strong academic or industry credentials in business administration or related fields. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A Ph.D., MBA, JD, or terminal degree in hospitality management, real estate, or related business disciplines
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in the hospitality or real estate sectors
  • Professional ties to hospitality brands and real estate firms to support student career outcomes
  • Familiarity with business core areas like finance, marketing, analytics, and accounting as applied to hospitality or property management
  • Commitment to innovative, high-quality teaching and experience with hybrid or online course delivery
  • Evidence of collegiality, professionalism, and contribution to institutional service

Appointment Details
Initial appointments are typically at the rank of Professorial Lecturer, renewable based on performance and funding. This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range is $100,000 to $150,000, in compliance with D.C.'s Pay Transparency Act.
