Position Overview

The Department of Business at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) invites applications for an Open Position in Management. This is a full-time, regular tenure-track faculty appointment beginning in Fall 2027, based in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. The level of appointment is open and will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The Department seeks a management generalist to teach core courses in the Management concentration of the Business Administration major. The position also involves sustained scholarly research and publication, undergraduate academic advising, curriculum development, and service to the Department, University, and broader community.

Teaching Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach the following required courses in the Management concentration:

• Management in a Global Environment (foundation course)
• Organizational Theory and Behavior
• Strategic Management

Depending on the candidate's background and departmental needs, the faculty member may also teach electives in areas such as:

• Human Resource Management
• Operations Management
• Leadership
• Negotiations
• Conflict and Change Management
• Management Communication
• Entrepreneurship
• Introduction to Sustainability
• Managing Energy Transitions
• Other courses in management, sustainability, or entrepreneurship

Candidates are not expected to teach all the listed electives.

Research, Advising, and Academic Service

In addition to teaching, the faculty member will be expected to:

• Conduct sustained scholarly research and publish academic work.
• Provide academic advising to undergraduate students.
• Participate in curriculum development and the ongoing work of the Department.
• Contribute actively to the Department, University, and broader community through service and collaboration.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

• A PhD in Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Research publications in management or a related field, commensurate with their academic rank.
• Experience teaching similar college-level courses in English.
• Experience with American liberal arts-style education or a willingness to adapt to this approach to teaching.
• A collegial and collaborative attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

A published monograph or a monograph in progress will be considered a strong advantage.
