Position Overview
The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute – Harvard Global Research Support Centre India is offering the Mittal Institute India Fellowship (MIIF) for two postdoctoral scholars in India. This is a unique opportunity for those interested in research-focused business faculty jobs, business school jobs, or roles that support public benefit and academic leadership in India. Fellows will have access to Harvard’s resources and mentorship to advance independent research while contributing to India’s public good.
Who Should Apply
Applications are invited from all disciplines, including science, business administration, medicine, law, economics, cultural studies, education, public health, political science, and more. The fellowship especially welcomes applicants whose research will further business administration faculty jobs or strengthen scholarship in Indian business schools. All applicants must show how their work can benefit India’s public or academic sector.
Fellowship Details

Location: Mittal Institute India office, New Delhi

Duration: One year, starting January 2026

Stipend: INR 1,00,000 per month (covers living costs, medical allowance, books, research materials)

Travel: Economy round-trip fare for scholars relocating to New Delhi

Mentorship: Harvard faculty mentorship (remote)

Activities: Engage in seminars, review grants, host events, and interact with Harvard affiliates in India

Research Focus: Projects may address India-centric topics or cross-country issues linked to India. The research should help advance academic excellence in India, with priority given to candidates who have not previously accessed Harvard’s resources and who have mainly studied at Indian institutions.
Eligibility Criteria

Recent postdoctoral scholars who completed their PhD between March 1, 2020, and March 31, 2025

Open to all fields relevant to business school faculty jobs and related disciplines

Strong preference for applicants primarily educated in India
-
Fellows must live in New Delhi or nearby for the fellowship year

Cannot hold another fellowship during the term
Application Requirements
All applications must be submitted via ARIeS and include:

A two-to-three-page research plan (double-spaced, 1” margins, Times New Roman 12pt) covering:
• Project title and abstract
• Research questions
• Methodology
• Expected outcomes

An updated CV with academic degrees, research, and publications

One writing sample (max 10 pages, double-spaced)

Scan of PhD diploma

Two letters of recommendation (at least one from an academic reference familiar with your work; upload directly to ARIeS)
