Position Overview

The American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) is seeking a full-time faculty member in Digital Technologies in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The faculty member will teach, advise, and mentor students while contributing to research, professional development, and the wider campus community. The role includes teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students and may involve serving as a global lecturer for AUPP partner institutions within the faculty member’s area of expertise.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate students and serve as a global lecturer for partner institutions within their area(s) of expertise.
  • Follow the approved course syllabus and make necessary modifications to meet department and university standards. Substantial changes require approval from the relevant Program Chair or Dean.
  • Design and deliver engaging lectures, facilitate classroom discussions, and develop relevant activities and assignments.
  • Grade papers, quizzes, examinations, and other assignments in Canvas in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Evaluate student performance based on attendance, participation, coursework, and examinations.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to support students in achieving their educational goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, research initiatives, and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Remain current with developments in their academic field and apply relevant advances to course content and teaching methods.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and campus activities as required.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary course development and new degree program initiatives.
  • Participate in campus open houses and relevant program recruitment activities.
  • Rotate faculty service responsibilities, including advising student clubs and organizations, serving on campus committees, and chaperoning student educational and learning activities.

Faculty Expectations

AUPP seeks faculty members who can communicate clearly and provide useful feedback and guidance to students. Faculty should be able to deliver engaging, real-world-based instruction and create an interactive classroom environment.

Candidates should be comfortable using technology, including email and online learning platforms, to support student engagement. Faculty are expected to take a student-centered approach, helping students understand learning outcomes and apply course theories to real-world situations.

The position also requires knowledge of curriculum design, pedagogy, and the alignment of learning outcomes with instructional strategies, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues across the university.

Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • A Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution, preferably from an American or other Western university.
  • A strong commitment to teaching excellence and student success.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas and other educational technologies.

Recent Ph.D. graduates and candidates nearing completion of their Ph.D. are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • At least three years of higher-education teaching experience, particularly at an American or American-style university.
  • Industry certifications in Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Software Development, AI, and/or Data Science.
