Faculty – Business (Real Estate Management) | HCT

Position Overview

Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is seeking Faculty – Business (Real Estate Management) for a full-time academic position in the United Arab Emirates.

The faculty member will provide instruction in general faculty subjects and in at least two specific areas of the assigned program or discipline. Teaching takes place in a student-centered, second-language learning environment that respects students, their culture, and their traditions.

The role also includes applied research, student advising, academic service, curriculum development, assessment, and participation in College and community activities.

Responsibilities

Teaching and Student Learning

The faculty member will:

• Teach courses using a practical, applied approach aligned with course syllabi and program goals.
• Teach in at least two specific areas of the assigned program or discipline.
• Use educational technology and innovative instructional methods to support effective learning.
• Apply teaching strategies appropriate for students learning in a second-language environment.
• Provide continuous feedback on student progress through tests, projects, assignments, and other assessment methods.
• Provide individual assistance to students and address student issues in coordination with the program supervisor and other College personnel as required.
• Maintain regular office hours to advise and assist students.

Assessment and Academic Quality

Responsibilities include:

• Evaluate students and update grades in a timely manner.
• Monitor student progress and take action to support student success.
• Contribute to question banks and coursework assessments as requested.
• Prepare electronic Course Assessment Files (eCAF) and Course Assessment Reports (CAR) for courses taught.
• Manage at least one system-wide course, including content management, assessment development, course evaluation, and review.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, learning, assessment, and quality assurance under the HCT Program Continuous Improvement Framework.
• Participate in course and curriculum revisions.
• Invigilate internal and externally administered assessments as assigned.

Student Advising and Mentoring

The faculty member will:

• Serve as a student advisor as assigned.
• Provide recommendations for at-risk action plans as required.
• Support and mentor students during internships and work placements.
• Monitor student progress and take appropriate action to support student success.

Research

The position includes responsibility to:

• Conduct applied research relevant to the faculty's interests and the national innovation agenda and its targeted priority sectors.
• Participate in conferences.
• Mentor student research.

Academic and Community Service

The faculty member will:

• Serve on faculty, program, campus, and/or system-wide committees.
• Sponsor or advise student groups and activities.
• Serve industry, the community, and the region.
• Participate in academic and extracurricular events at the College and within the community.
• Contribute to the implementation of HCT's system-wide strategy.
• Assist in developing and preserving system-wide and Faculty/Division-specific policies.

Administrative Responsibilities

Responsibilities also include:

• Ensure teaching facilities, equipment, and supplies are maintained in good working order, where applicable.
• Support academic quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Leadership Responsibilities

The role includes:

• Coaching and mentoring subordinates on a regular basis.
• Contributing to the recruitment and development of UAE Nationals.
• Supporting Organizational Resilience by promoting and communicating resilience practices and procedures.
• Helping develop approaches to identify and cultivate high-quality organizational resilience leaders, individual contributors, and teams.

Workload

Full-time faculty are required to complete a minimum of 36.5 working hours per week.

Workdays are normally Monday through Friday, with some system-wide assignments on Saturdays, such as FWA or MOE examinations.

The general faculty teaching workload is:

• Fall semester: 15 credit hours
• Spring semester: 15 credit hours

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the applicable academic and professional qualification requirements. The posting specifies the following pathways:

• A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, where applicable; or
• A Master's degree and a professional certification relevant to the discipline, with 5 years of teaching and industry experience; or
• A Bachelor's degree may be considered for candidates with extensive industry experience and industry certification, as required by the discipline.
• Appropriate academic professional qualifications as required.

Experience

Candidates should have:

• A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the relevant discipline.
• Experience developing course curricula according to accreditation and international standards.
• Experience incorporating educational technology into curricula and instructional strategies.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience is preferred.

Professional and Cultural Expectations

Faculty members are expected to:

• Be familiar with the HCT Teaching and Learning philosophy.
• Align student learning outcomes with applicable accrediting agency standards.
• Ensure students understand HCT's definition of academic dishonesty and the behaviors considered academic misconduct.
• Ensure students understand the disciplinary measures and consequences associated with academic misconduct.
• Maintain a teaching and learning environment sensitive to the cultural heritage of HCT students.
• Recognize the central role of students in HCT's institutional mission.
