Overview
The Norton School of Human Ecology at the University of Arizona invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice position in Retailing and Consumer Science (RCSC). This career-track faculty role is non-tenure eligible and involves teaching a mix of in-person, hybrid, and online courses, with a primary focus on business faculty jobs within the retail and consumer behavior disciplines. The position carries a 90% teaching and 10% service load and includes opportunities for additional summer teaching.

As part of the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences, the Norton School remains a leader in business school faculty jobs related to consumer science, fashion, human development, and financial planning. The School hosts research and outreach centers such as the Frances McClelland Institute, Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing, and Take-Charge Cats. Facilities like the Lundgren Consumer Science Lab and the Fashion Production Studio provide rich opportunities for hands-on learning.

Position Responsibilities

  • Teach six (6) courses during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Course topics may include: retail business analysis, consumer behavior, digital retailing, retail operations management, and supply chain management.
  • Develop and teach online courses as required.
  • Engage in service activities including committee participation, student advising, and project mentorship.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation aligned with workforce needs and program outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, marketing, retailing, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in retail, business, or higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students effectively in academic settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Substantial leadership or operational experience in retail or related business functions such as merchandising, product development, or supply chain.
  • Experience in developing and delivering university-level courses with student-centered learning approaches.
  • Online course design and delivery experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Expertise in consumer behavior, retail strategy, and merchandising.
  • Ability to apply real-world case studies, simulations, and partnerships in course design.
  • Clear communicator with a track record of engaging students and fostering dynamic learning environments.
  • Skill in aligning instruction with learning outcomes and workforce readiness.
