Lecturer – Sustainable Finance | UC Berkeley Haas School

Position Overview
The Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified lecturers to teach courses within its Sustainable and Impact Finance initiative. This pool is intended for temporary, part-time academic appointments in business school faculty roles, particularly for those with expertise in sustainable finance, ESG investing, climate investment strategies, and related fields.

Salary and Appointment Details

  • Appointment Type: Part-time Lecturer (up to 33%)
  • Salary Range: $68,247 – $192,040 (based on full-time equivalent), per UC academic salary scales
  • Duration: Appointments range from one semester to one year
  • Review Cycle:
    • Summer courses: Reviewed in April
    • Fall courses: Reviewed in May
    • Spring courses: Reviewed in November

Course Topics
Teaching assignments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Sustainable Investment Fund
  • Climate Solutions Finance
  • Public-private partnerships
  • Impact and climate financial intermediation
  • Entrepreneurial finance related to sustainability

General Duties

  • Deliver high-quality instruction
  • Hold regular office hours
  • Prepare and grade assignments
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Contribute to course material development

Qualifications
Basic (required at time of application)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree

Additional (required by start date)

  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in a relevant field

Preferred

  • At least five years of experience in sustainable finance, ESG or impact investing, early-stage climate ventures, or energy transition finance
  • Higher education teaching experience
  • Advanced degree in a related discipline
