Position Overview
Rhode Island College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position within its School of Business. The ideal candidate will contribute to a growing team of business school faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching, service, and accreditation support.
This faculty role supports the Accounting Department, which includes 4 full-time faculty members and offers approximately 25 course sections per semester. The School of Business hosts over 1,000 students enrolled in majors across business administration disciplines, and class sizes are limited to a maximum of 30 students to ensure high-quality engagement.
Teaching and Service Responsibilities
• Teach core and advanced courses in financial and management accounting, including intermediate accounting, taxation, and auditing
• Participate in curriculum development and academic advising
• Provide administrative and committee service within the School of Business
• Support IACBE accreditation and other continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
• MBA or Master’s in Accounting/Taxation and an active CPA license at time of application (minimum)
• Relevant professional accounting experience; preference for management or controller-level roles
• Ability to teach a variety of accounting courses that align with current faculty expertise
Preferred Qualifications
• PhD or DBA in Accounting (with CPA) or JD (with CPA)
• Demonstrated experience working with and mentoring a diverse student population
• Interest in taking on leadership roles within the department
