The DeVille School of Business at Walsh University is inviting applications for a tenure-track or non-tenure-track faculty position (rank open) in Finance or Financial Economics, starting in Fall 2025. The position is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about teaching, mentoring, and contributing to a values-driven institution grounded in a Catholic worldview and integrated, experiential learning pedagogy.

Candidates with a terminal degree (Ph.D. or DBA) in Finance, Financial Economics, or a closely related field are strongly preferred. Applicants with an MBA or master’s degree in Finance or Economics will also be considered. A confirmed dissertation defense date prior to the start date is required for ABD candidates.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dean, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Teaching and Curriculum Development

  • Teach 24 credit hours per academic year (12 credit hours per semester), spanning undergraduate and MBA programs.
  • Areas of teaching specialization may include corporate finance, financial markets, asset management, and household finance, with a priority need in assets and markets.
  • Develop and revise undergraduate and graduate courses and curriculum.
  • Engage in assurance of learning activities to assess and improve student outcomes.
  • Mentor and advise students, providing guidance both academically and professionally.
  • Actively engage with students inside and outside the classroom.

Scholarship and Professional Development

  • Pursue scholarly research aligned with Walsh University’s mission, the Boyer Model of scholarship, and specialized accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrate evidence or potential for publication in academic journals or other scholarly outlets.
  • Participate in professional development activities to remain current in the field of finance or financial economics.

Service and Engagement

  • Contribute to department, school, and university governance through committee work, event participation, and mentorship.
  • Provide professional assistance to the community, business sector, and the profession.
  • Attend and actively participate in university governance and other institutional events.

Additional Opportunities

Candidates with an interest in leadership roles may also apply for the MBA Director position or contribute to the development of a proposed AUBER-affiliated Center for Regional Economic Studies. Course releases are attached to both roles.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Finance or Economics (e.g., MSF, MBA-Finance). Terminal degree (Ph.D. or DBA) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching finance at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding and support of Walsh University’s mission and values.

Preferred:

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D. or DBA) in Finance or Financial Economics.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, CFP, or Kingdom Advisor.
  • Experience teaching online courses.
  • Professional experience in finance or economics aligned with teaching responsibilities.
  • Evidence of scholarly research or publications in the field.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a traditional office and classroom setting, including extensive computer use.
  • Mobility to interact with students and faculty across campus.
