Department Overview

The Department of Economics and Finance, part of the AACSB-accredited Mike Cottrell College of Business (MCCB), offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Finance, along with minors in Economics and FinTech. The department is located near Atlanta's dynamic commercial real estate market, providing students with valuable industry exposure. With a growing enrollment, the department boasts a collaborative and energetic faculty committed to high-quality teaching, student engagement, and impactful research.

Position Summary

The Department of Economics and Finance at UNG invites applications for the J.T. Morgan Endowed Chair in Finance and Real Estate, commencing August 1, 2025. This tenure-track position, open to associate and full professors, spans ten months and is primarily based at the Gainesville campus, with potential teaching assignments across other UNG campuses. Responsibilities include instructing courses such as Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Finance, Principles of Finance, and other upper-division classes for both undergraduate and M.B.A. students. The endowed chair is expected to actively engage with the real estate community, conduct research on real estate and finance topics, and mentor students pursuing professional careers in real estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Finance, and Principles of Finance.
  • Engage extensively with the real estate industry to foster partnerships and opportunities.
  • Conduct and publish research on real estate and related financial issues.
  • Mentor and guide students toward successful real estate careers.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or DBA in Real Estate, Finance with a real estate focus, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution, completed by the time of appointment.
  • Relevant industry experience in real estate.
  • A proven record of quality publications in reputable real estate journals.
  • Preferred: Experience in online teaching.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students both within and beyond the classroom setting.
