Position Overview & Responsibilities

The University of Redlands’ Department of Business Administration invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor role. We are seeking a candidate with expertise in the following areas:

  • Teaching Responsibilities:
    • 200-Level Business History Course: Emphasizing intensive reading, writing, and research.
    • 300-Level International Labor Course.
    • Upper-Division Electives: Covering subjects such as sustainable labor, international labor policy and strategy, and the role of science/technology in business. These courses should integrate elements of spatial studies, public policy analysis, and GIS.
  • Student Mentorship & Advising:
    Demonstrated experience in advising and mentoring, particularly for first-generation students and those from underrepresented communities. The successful candidate will be expected to support academic success, develop classroom strategies, and provide guidance on curricular and career pathways.
  • Interdisciplinary Contribution:
    The candidate should be prepared to enhance interdisciplinary course offerings within a small, private liberal arts undergraduate program, where teaching excellence and personalized advising are highly valued.

Preference will be given to individuals with prior teaching experience at a federally recognized Hispanic-Serving Institution. Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are especially encouraged to apply. While a strong teaching and service focus is essential, applicants should also present a realistic and complementary research agenda.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Educational Requirement:
    A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required by the time of appointment.
  • Teaching Load:
    Candidates must be prepared to teach six courses per academic year.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Environment:
    The role is primarily based in standard classroom and office settings with routine activities such as computer work, meetings, and short-distance travel within the campus.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Prolonged periods of sitting.
    • Occasional walking and use of office equipment.
    • The ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
    • Routine physical tasks such as climbing stairs and filing are expected.
