Job Summary
The Maine Business School seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position, starting September 1, 2025. This role requires a strong commitment to research, teaching excellence, and service to the academic community. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum innovation, student mentorship, and collaborative research within the business school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and publish high-quality research in accounting or related fields.
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Managerial Accounting and Accounting Information Systems (two courses per semester for the first two years, then alternating between two and three courses per semester).
  • Develop innovative teaching materials and contribute to curriculum improvement.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in their academic and career paths.
  • Participate in the AACSB accreditation process and maintain academic qualifications.
  • Engage with the business community and foster industry collaborations.
  • Contribute to the university through service roles in committees, governance, and student engagement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. (or ABD with expected completion by December 31, 2025) from an AACSB-accredited business school or an equivalent institution.
  • Demonstrated research ability, with potential for publication in refereed journals.
  • Proven teaching effectiveness in accounting or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong publication record or demonstrated potential for high-quality academic research.
  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence in accounting courses.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA).
  • At least three years of professional experience in accounting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
