The Earl G Graves School of Business and Management at Morgan State University is offering a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Information Science and Systems, specializing in Data Analytics within the business sector. This position will start in August 2023. The appointed faculty will also play a dual role, dedicating 50% of their time to the newly established Center for Data Analytics and Sports Gaming Research (CDASGR) and 50% to departmental duties. Initially, the faculty member will teach two courses per semester for the first two years. The Center focuses on the study and research of technological advances, socio-behavioral trends, and attitudes towards eSports, sports wagering, and problem gambling to influence public policy and business strategies in esports and gaming. A startup package will be offered to facilitate research and teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver both online and in-person undergraduate and graduate courses in data analytics, information systems, and project management.
  • Engage in research, grant writing, and publication activities in areas such as Data Analytics, Sports Gaming, and Information Systems.
  • Present research findings at local and national conferences and contribute to professional organizations.
  • Participate in departmental, school, and university committees.
  • Teaching assignments may include courses in the Masters program in Data Analytics and Visualization, doctoral and undergraduate courses in various related fields, depending on qualifications.

Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in Data Analytics and Visualization tools.
  • An earned doctorate in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Science, Decision Sciences, Operations Research, or a related field by August 2023.
  • Demonstrated record of impactful research and potential for teaching excellence.
  • Relevant professional experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
