Position Summary
The School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, and Business Law within the College of Business is seeking candidates for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Information Systems, beginning in August 2025. The position is based on the main Cullowhee campus and is designed for candidates whose teaching and research interests complement the strengths of our current faculty. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in core enterprise information systems and the Cybersecurity program, delivered in both residential and/or distance formats.
  • Managing a teaching load of three courses per semester (with a typical campus presence of 2–3 days per week, though additional days may be required for service and teaching-related activities).
  • Engaging in active research that results in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Providing academic advising and contributing to service initiatives as determined by the school director.

Candidates must meet the College’s qualification standards and adhere to AACSB requirements for research and publication.

Required Qualifications

  • A terminal degree in Computer Information Systems or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution is mandatory.
  • ABD candidates may be considered if the degree is completed by July 1, 2025.
  • Note: A degree in Computer Science will not meet the qualification requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
Applicants with a strong track record—or clear potential—for impactful research, effective teaching, and significant contributions to the academic and student community will be given preference.
