Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting (Tenure-Track)

Tarleton State University invites applications from exceptionally qualified candidates for a 9‑month tenure-track position in Accounting at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Based on our main campus in Stephenville, Texas—with a potential summer appointment subject to need and funding—the successful candidate will help shape the future of our vibrant academic community.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will:

Excellence in Teaching & Service (60%)
• Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and laboratory sessions for undergraduate and/or graduate students—including general education courses.
• Design comprehensive course syllabi, select high-quality instructional materials, and create diverse assessments (exams, quizzes, papers, etc.).
• Evaluate student performance through timely feedback and learning outcome assessments, using results to refine curricula.
• Foster an active learning environment that promotes critical thinking, collaborative discussions, and hands-on learning.
• Provide academic support through regular office hours, mentoring, and individualized guidance.
• Adhere to university policies, uphold academic integrity, and meet accreditation standards.
• Incorporate innovative teaching methods, emerging technologies, and progressive pedagogies.
• Collaborate with colleagues and staff on course coordination, resource sharing, and program development.
• Participate in institutional service—including committee work, student and faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new or part-time faculty.

Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity (40%)
• Maintain a dynamic research agenda that contributes original knowledge or creative expression in the field of Accounting.
• Publish scholarly work, present findings at professional conferences, and contribute to your discipline’s national or international impact.
• Demonstrate potential to secure external funding and attain professional recognition.

Minimum Qualifications

Academic Credentials: Earned doctorate or terminal degree in Accounting from an AACSB‑accredited institution.
Areas of Interest: Expertise or research focus in Analytics, Accounting Information Systems, and/or Tax.
Professional Record: A distinguished record in teaching, research, and service that merits a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Tenure eligibility upon arrival or credit toward tenure will be determined based on your experience and professional achievements in line with Texas A&M System guidelines. (If applicable, tenure upon arrival will be granted pending final approval from The Texas A&M University System.)
Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Additional Requirements: In-depth disciplinary knowledge adequate for graduate-level instruction and the ability to engage professionally and collegially with students, faculty, and staff.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
