Position Overview

The Department of Accounting and Finance at Alabama A&M University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Accounting, beginning January 1, 2025. The rank and tenure status will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, including both introductory and advanced-level topics.
  • Engage in scholarly research that leads to publications in refereed academic journals.
  • Develop and deliver course materials, including syllabi, exams, instructional aids, and online content.
  • Maintain compliance with AACSB accreditation standards.
  • Utilize diverse instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, case studies, demonstrations, and field trips.
  • Assess student learning through written, verbal, and performance-based evaluations.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their academic and professional growth.
  • Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports on student performance.
  • Support extracurricular activities and contribute to departmental initiatives.
  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees as assigned.
  • Assist in achieving the instructional and institutional goals of the College.
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching, research, advising, and service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three years of college or university-level teaching experience.
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. in a related field must have completed at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in accounting.
  • A strong record of scholarly contributions, including publications in refereed journals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional experience in the accounting or financial services industry.
  • Professional certification(s) in accounting (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA).
  • Specialization in Accounting Information Systems or Accounting Analytics.
