Position Overview
The Department of Accounting and Finance at Alabama A&M University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Accounting, beginning January 1, 2025. The rank and tenure status will be determined based on the candidateβs qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, including both introductory and advanced-level topics.
- Engage in scholarly research that leads to publications in refereed academic journals.
- Develop and deliver course materials, including syllabi, exams, instructional aids, and online content.
- Maintain compliance with AACSB accreditation standards.
- Utilize diverse instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, case studies, demonstrations, and field trips.
- Assess student learning through written, verbal, and performance-based evaluations.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their academic and professional growth.
- Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports on student performance.
- Support extracurricular activities and contribute to departmental initiatives.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees as assigned.
- Assist in achieving the instructional and institutional goals of the College.
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching, research, advising, and service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution.
- A minimum of three years of college or university-level teaching experience.
- Candidates with a Ph.D. in a related field must have completed at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in accounting.
- A strong record of scholarly contributions, including publications in refereed journals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional experience in the accounting or financial services industry.
- Professional certification(s) in accounting (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA).
- Specialization in Accounting Information Systems or Accounting Analytics.
