Overview: Coppin State University's College of Business is seeking a dedicated and innovative individual for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Accounting Bachelor of Science program, commencing in Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong commitment to teaching excellence, curriculum development, research, and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Deliver 12 credit hours of undergraduate accounting courses per semester, including Accounting Information Systems, Governmental Accounting, and introductory financial and managerial accounting, through various modalities (in-person, online, hybrid).
  • Program Development: Enhance the accounting program's visibility by building relationships with industry professionals and integrating practical experiences into the curriculum.
  • Curriculum Assessment: Continuously evaluate and update course content to ensure graduates meet current employment standards in the accounting field.
  • Advising and Mentorship: Provide academic guidance to students and support student organizations.
  • Research: Engage in scholarly research within the accounting discipline, aiming for publication and presenting findings at relevant conferences and workshops.
  • Service: Participate actively in departmental, college, and university committees, contributing to the institution's interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Grant Writing: Assist in securing external and internal funding to support departmental projects and research endeavors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Accounting (Ph.D. or DBA) or an MBA/MS in Accounting with a relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA).
  • Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Competence in accounting software such as Intuit QuickBooks, Sage Business Cloud Accounting, and AccountEdge Pro.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior academic teaching experience or a minimum of three years of industry experience in the private sector.
  • Demonstrated research experience in accounting.
  • Recent doctoral graduates are encouraged to apply.
